2015 All Star Meet June 22,2015
Relays
Realys are a constant source of questions with regard to swim meets. How are they formed? How do I know if my child is swimming? Etc, etc, etc?
There are two relays we swim in meets… the Freestyle Relay (all age groups) and the Medley Relay ( ages 7 and above). The freestyle relay consists of 4 kids each swimming one length of freestyle. This event is swum at the beginning of meets. The Medley Relay consists of 4 kids – each swimming one length and each in a different stroke. The order of strokes is Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and then Freestyle. This is the last event of the meet.
Our policy is that relays are computer generated, but coach approved. This means that the computer system looks at which kids are registered for the meet, places them in relays based upon times and then the coaches will review the relays for accuracy. At most meets we will try to form 2-3 relays per age group. Obviously this depends upon how many kids are swimming any given meet. Our goal is to get as many kids in relays as possible… which might also mean that your child will be asked to swim with older kids to fill out a relay team.
When registering for a meet you will be given an opportunity to “opt out” of swimming relays. This means that you can say No you do not want to swim. The selection will say No I do not want to swim the “early” relay (freestyle) or No I do not want to swim the “late” relay (medley). If you do not opt out we will assume your child is willing and excited to swim for our team in a relay.
Westwood All Star Invitational Meet 2015

The meet will be conducted in a six lane, 25-meter outdoor swimming pool using an automated Colorado Time System with a display board. Three timers per lane will be used to time. Food and beverages will be available at the Lakeview Café.
Eligibility AHSL 2015 eligibility rules apply. Swimmers must compete in age groups based on their age on May 1, 2015. Swimmers must be attached to a team from the Austin Hills Swim League for the 2015 swim season and must swim qualifying times in official 2015.
AHSL dual or medal meets (times from Intrasquad meets or time trials will NOT be accepted).
Entry Limitations AHSL entry limitations for meets applies: Swimmers age 10 and under may enter up to three events; 11& up swimmers may enter 5 events. Each swimmer may enter tworelays (one free relay and one medley relay). No NT’s will be accepted.
Bonus Event for the 2015 All Star Meet, all swimmers must have qualifying times from an official 2015 AHSL dual or medal meets in any individual event to enter that event. There are no bonus events allowed.
RelaysEach team may enter one “A” free relay and one “A” medley relay per gender in each age group. Relays must have entry times. Relay team entry times may be determined by the sum of the individual team members’ times for like strokes/distances, or the actual time that relay team achieved in a previous meet from the 2015 season. Relay participants may come to this meet WITHOUT being qualified in individual events. Relays will be seeded by time, slowest to fastest, versus assigning lanes to teams. Swimmers may swim in a max of two relays per meet (one free relay and one medley relay). On any relay team, there must be at least one swimmer from that age group on the relay. Younger swimmers may swim up in older age groups for relays; however, that counts toward their number of allowed relay swims and those swimmers may only swim a max of two relays per meet (one free relay and one medley relay)
